Privacy Policy
Hometown FC (“the game”, “we”) is a single-player football management game for iOS and Android, published by Hometown FC. This policy explains what data the game handles and what leaves your device.
The short version
Your game lives on your device, we don't know who you are, and nothing you do in the game is sold or shared. There are no accounts, no registration, and no server of ours holds your game data. The one exception is optional: if you join our launch email list on this website, we keep just your email address to tell you when the game is out — see Launch email list below.
Anonymous gameplay analytics (optional)
We use PostHog (hosted in the European Union) to count anonymous events such as “a session started”, “a new career was created”, or “a season was completed”. This tells us which parts of the game are used and helps us improve it.
- Events contain no name, email, account or contacts, but do include a pseudonymous install identifier and basic app/device fields. We therefore treat them as personal data, disable GeoIP and person profiles, and use the EU PostHog endpoint.
- Club names, player names, owner names, and town names from your save are not included in analytics events.
- Analytics is off until you explicitly opt in. You can turn it off at any time in Menu → Settings → Privacy → “Anonymous analytics”. The game works identically with it off, and disabling it stops all future events.
Crash diagnostics (on-device only)
If the game crashes, a sanitized technical report (error message and stack trace, no personal data) is stored locally on your device to help diagnose the problem. At most 20 reports are kept. They are not uploaded anywhere automatically.
Your save data (on-device only)
Careers are saved on your device. If you use Export save, the game creates a file that you control — sharing it (for example to cloud storage or email) is your action, through your device's standard share sheet. We never upload your saves.
Launch email list (optional)
You can consent to a launch notification. We store your email address, language, signup time and confirmation status only to administer that request.
- Addresses already present at the published migration cutoff are eligible for the one launch email without a retroactive confirmation. New signups remain pending until confirmed and expire after 30 days.
- Cloudflare hosts the form, Worker and KV storage. Resend receives the address and message content only to deliver confirmation and launch emails. We do not sell the data, use it for profiling, or send unrelated marketing.
- Pending records expire after 30 days. Eligible records are deleted within 30 days after the launch announcement. A one-way suppression value may be kept for up to 400 days to honor an unsubscribe.
- Confirmation and unsubscribe URLs use encrypted opaque tokens, not an email address in the URL. You may withdraw consent through the unsubscribe flow or by emailing support@hometownfc.app.
- Cloudflare and Resend may process data outside your country under their contractual transfer safeguards.
What we do NOT collect
- No accounts or registration, and no names or personal data from inside the game. (If you opt into the launch email list on this website, we hold just that email — see above.)
- No location data.
- No contacts, photos, or files beyond the save file you explicitly pick when importing.
- No tracking of you across other apps or websites for our own purposes. (In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, ads are non-personalised — see “Advertising” below.)
Advertising
If advertising is enabled in production, the game may show ads supplied by Google AdMob (for example, an optional rewarded ad you choose to watch, plus occasional banner and interstitial ads).
- Google may process your device's advertising identifier and IP address to serve and measure ads, under Google's privacy policy.
- In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland we serve only non-personalised (contextual) ads — they are not based on profiling you or tracking you across other apps. Before any ads load there, you are shown a consent message through Google's certified consent platform, and you can decline.
- On iOS, the system App Tracking Transparency prompt asks for your permission before any cross-app advertising identifier is used; if you decline, ads are non-personalised.
- Remove Ads removes forced banners and interstitials. Optional rewarded ads remain available by choice, so the ad SDK may run when you choose one.
In-app purchases
If enabled in production, the game may offer optional purchases (convenience cash packs, a one-time “Remove Ads”, and optional head-start packs). They are never required to progress, and there is no pay-to-win. Payments are processed entirely by the App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment details. Purchase entitlements are stored on your device and with the store, not on any server of ours.
Children
The game contains no chat, no user-generated content sharing, and no data collection beyond the anonymous analytics described above. Where minors may play, ads in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are non-personalised. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights & how to exercise them
Because the game keeps your data on your own device and analytics is anonymous, most rights are satisfied directly:
- Access / portability — your saves are on your device; Export save produces a copy you control.
- Erasure — deleting the app (or deleting saves from the in-game menu) removes your local data. Disabling the analytics toggle stops all future events. Past events remain pseudonymous; contact support to exercise access or erasure rights, and we may need a pseudonymous identifier to locate them.
- For ad-related data held by Google, see Google's privacy controls; for anything else, email us and we will respond.
Data retention
- Pseudonymous analytics follow the configured EU PostHog project retention period; the exact period must be approved and set during the blocking pre-release legal/configuration review.
- Save data and crash reports live only on your device.
This website
This site uses cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate page and performance measurements; it does not use cross-site identifiers or fingerprinting. Cloudflare also hosts the site and may process short-lived network and security logs. For signup abuse prevention, the Worker reads the source network address and gives Cloudflare's rate limiter only a one-way hash; our waitlist does not store the raw address. Fonts and images are served from this site, and the site sets no language or advertising cookie.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will be published at this URL before they take effect, with the “last updated” date above revised.
